Confers Development Residents — you may have noticed white pickup trucks and a bucket truck in the neighborhood this week taking photos and working on the utility poles. I reached out to FirstEnergy to confirm what was happening, and here is the update they provided.

Some of you may have received door tags yesterday, but they didn’t include much information. FirstEnergy has hired contractors to perform routine maintenance on several poles throughout the development. This work includes:

• Replacing cutouts – the fuse holders that protect transformers and distribution lines
• Replacing surge arresters – equipment that protects the system during lightning and voltage spikes

This is standard reliability work that utilities complete periodically to keep the electrical system operating safely. Crews expect to finish their work this week; however, if they do not, they may need to return for a day or two next week to complete the remaining items.
